Circle Time and Core Learning

At Jumeirah International Nurseries, learning begins with connection. Circle Time brings children together in ways that reflect their age and stage of development.

For babies and toddlers, Circle Time is a calm, sensory-rich experience filled with songs, rhymes and gentle interaction. These moments help build trust, communication and early language skills.

In FS1 and FS2, Circle Time may include early phonics, number awareness, storytelling and topic-based exploration guided by the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

For Year 1 children, Circle Time provides opportunities for reflection, mindfulness and deeper discussion, supporting emotional wellbeing, communication and classroom connection.

Throughout the day, every age group takes part in developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning that combines thoughtful structure with child-led play.

Play, Purpose and Discovery

Children explore carefully prepared learning areas designed to spark curiosity and build confidence. From sensory play and STEAM activities to role play, construction and art, each experience encourages children to investigate, create and make their own discoveries.

What may look like simple play is often supporting communication, problem-solving, cooperation, creativity and early academic skills all at once.

Healthy Mealtimes

Whether it is snack time or lunch, children enjoy their meals in a calm and social setting. Mealtimes help children develop independence, practise self-care and build positive habits around food.

They are also valuable social moments, giving children opportunities to talk, listen and enjoy being part of their classroom community.

Outdoor Adventures

Outdoor play is an important part of every nursery day. Children may climb, explore nature, take part in physical challenges or simply enjoy the freedom of open-ended play.

These experiences support balance, coordination, motor development and physical confidence while giving children space to investigate the world around them.

Rest and Enrichment

Younger children are given time to rest, enjoy stories and nap according to their individual routines.

Older children may take part in enrichment experiences such as music, French, Arabic, cooking and movement sessions. These activities complement the curriculum while introducing children to new interests, skills and ways of expressing themselves.
